šŸ‚ My First Dollar Tree Fall Haul of 2025 šŸ‚

Hello Folk of the Hollow!

Everything about today was a surprise. I hadn’t intended to go out shopping, and I hadn’t intended to write a post about it today—but earlier today I talked myself into venturing out into the village to check out our local dollar tree to see what they’ve got out on this beautiful August 2nd.

The final verdict was: not much. People on TikTok that I’ve been watching apparently have more robust dollar trees than our quaint little village, so I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for in terms of decorations (yet!) but I did find some goodies! All-in-all I’m really happy with what I got, and I don’t regret the effort it took to drag myself out of the cottage (I woke up too early today, and wasn’t able to go back to sleep. Now, I fear, it’s beginning to catch up with me and my energy levels are fading fast. What’s funny though is that I did get a full 8 hours of sleep . . . but maybe I’m someone that needs 12 hours or more to feel rested! Lol!)

I’m also excited to be able to share with you guys what I got! Going shopping has really put me in the mindset for the season, and I’m eager to go again as we get closer and closer to what ā€œnormalā€ people consider fall and all the extra good stuff starts to come out. Plus side, if they never come out with what I’m looking for, Amazon has always got my back.

Still, I kept telling myself that the worst part about all of this is that I can’t even be that annoyed by the lack of fall themed merchandise—because technically we’re not even there yet. Now, come September or October, I feel like I would be well within my right to be disappointed at any lack of enthusiasm on the part of the local stores.

In case you’re wondering, because I realized I forgot to mention it, I am looking for very specific Halloween decorations this year. I want to find ones that veer more towards vintage 1930s-1950s style Halloween decor. As we’ve begun to stroll into the fall season this year and stores are releasing their Halloween decorations, I find that the older style decorations are actually much creepier than what we’re coming out with today. I don’t know what it is, exactly, but something about them just speaks to me. Also, things like vintage Halloween mugs fit in with my aesthetic well enough that I could definitely use them all year ā€˜round, and I want that to be the case with what I buy as much as possible. Some things will definitely have to go into storage, but I’m also considering function as well as style this year.

Anyway! Without further rambling, here is what I picked out at my local Dollar Tree!

I saw these two throw pillows and fell in love! They’re kind of flat so I wouldn’t suggest trying to sleep on them unless you like sleeping on flat pillows and hope that they will get even flatter—but they look so cute as design pieces and will be nice to snuggle with as I sit in my little library couch with a good book. The pumpkin especially has just a general good snuggle-ability rating!

There was also a three-dimensional pumpkin throw pillow and it was really cute . . . but as I held it in my hands I couldn’t figure out how one is supposed to lay their head on it. Maybe you’re not and it’s just for looks, but it didn’t look cute enough for me to be able to overlook the lack of functionality. So at the store it remained.

I saw these on TikTok and thought to myself ā€œwell, it wouldn’t hurt to lookā€ and I have to say, for $1.50 each I’m pretty happy. I like the dimensionality of the apple cider glass and the apples contrasted against the fully illustrated backgrounds, and what sold me even more was how cottagecore they looked! I could totally keep these up in the cottage all year long because they are totally fall decorations but also not strictly fall decorations at the same time!

See, this is exactly what I’m talking about when I say that this year I want to find decorations that are both year-round functional and season appropriate. I think I know exactly where I want to hang them, and I might go back for the pumpkin pie one at some point!

Tell me if you feel the same way: it is impossible—literally and absolutely impossible—to have too many throw blankets. Even though not all of them match my aesthetic (not everything has to be a perfect match, after all, if the end goal is that they bring me joy) Danny and I have long since agreed that the perfect gift for us will always be throw blankets. We love making a nest of them downstairs while we play a long anticipated video game or binge watch our favorite shows while eating way too many sweet treats. When I saw the Dollar Tree had a throw blanket with a bunch of cutie pie ghosts on it, you know I had to go for it.

It’s not a particularly thick blanket, but boy is it soft! I’m so, so, so glad I got it!

That’s it! That’s everything I got at my first excursion to the Dollar Tree this fall! It wasn’t a real big haul but I feel really attached to everything I got and I’m really excited to have them as permanent fixtures in my home. I can’t wait for more stores to start putting out their fall decorations and be able to add more to our ever-growing stash!

I hope you guys are having a great Saturday so far!

I’ll see you next time! Bye!
