Cozy Writing Day in the Rain // A Project Flowers Writing Update
WIP Title: Project Flowers
Genre: Dark Fantasy / Adventure
Today’s Word Count: 1,610 Words
Total words: 1,610 words
Fictional Accomplishments: We got started! I was a little worried about this first chapter (prologue) but I’m happy to announce that it’s going really well and I’m not unhappy with it. I’m glad to know, though, that once my editor gets his hands on it it’ll really start to shine like I wanted. Right now, though, the goal is just to get the book written. We’ll worry about polishing later!
Frankly I’m just happy that the pre-work is done. I’m happy that I did it, but it’s absolutely not my favorite part of the process. The writing is! (are we shocked?) I can’t wait to really start getting into the meat of it.
I studied A Game of Thrones while I was in school, and I learned why the prologue at the front of the first book works—and writing a prologue for this one is sort of my way of exercising that muscle. I usually shy away from prologues ever since I learned that most people do them wrong, but I feel like it’s the best option for starting this book. Will it make it through the editing phase? I don’t know, but I hope so!
Real Life Accomplishments: I discovered that Starsand Island (a new cozy game that comes out February 2026) has a free demo out right now and I’m gonna check that out! Honestly, its the reason I didn’t get more done (lol) ‘cause I’m dying of curiosity about this game! It looks so cute and allegedly the creators had played Stardew Valley and absolutely loved it and came up with this game because there were things they wanted to change, so I’m curious what they’re going to add that Stardew Valley didn’t have (as you know if you’ve followed me for a while, Stardew Valley is my favorite cozy game ever).
Aside from that, I had a really great morning. I made myself a cozy pink coffee this morning and sat down in my library to do a little reading.
I have no idea why it is that I seem to do a lot of writing on rainy days, but I promise it just keeps being a weird coincidence lol. But today we started the day out reading in the library, like I said, and I made myself a cute little pink coffee. I used vanilla coffee with the Starbucks Cake Pop coffee creamer, frothed up the coffee creamer with my frother, and added pink food dye to make it pink! The sprinkles I really could’ve taken or left, because they were a little too thick. Maybe next time I’ll go for the sugar sand sprinkles instead.
While Salem and I spent the morning reading, I was overcome with this sense of calm. It was one of those days when you realize that everything you’ve been working towards is starting to come to fruition, that the fairytale you’re trying to turn your life into is becoming reality. It’s slow, and I’m nowhere near the end just yet, but we’re so far from where we started that I just wanted to take a moment in the stillness of it all to appreciate how far I’ve come. I’ve been doing nothing but thinking about this for years—and I mean that literally. It’s been in the back of my mind every single day, and I’ve taken the thought out and played with it a lot—and I’m so happy and grateful that I’ve come as far as I have 💚.
Anyway, I wanna go play Starsand Island now and see what it’s all about. Do you have any cozy games you’re excited about? Have you heard of Starsand Island before? Let’s talk about it!
Until next time!
